little guy, likes to play
I have been active in the fitness industry for over 30 years as a manager, presenter, group exercise instructor, personal trainer, yoga teacher and coach.
I taught my first "aerobics" class in 1983. My coaching career started as an athlete in elementary school.
I fine-tuned my skills as a Program Director and Personal Trainer with the YMCA. Cardiac rehabilitation, arthritis and joint replacement, hiv/AIDS, cancer and diabetes were some of the challenges facing my clients. I had a blast evaluating the PARE (Physical Aptitude Readiness Evaluation) for the RCMP as well as ran Boot Camp, designed to help RCMP/Police applicants and members pass this required physical test.
I continue my 28 year commitment to frontline involvement with hiv/AIDS service providers including Positive Living BC, Vancouver Friends For Life Society, and A Loving Spoonful offering my talents as Personal Trainer, Shiatsu Practitioner, Counsellor, Coach, Cheerleader, and even a friendly face on a hard day. Personal fond accomplishments include:
Starting "On Our Way", a coaching program supporting people living with HIV/AIDS who wanted to get somewhere: back to school, back to work, start a business and learn how to live again.
Developing and leading a "Peer Wellness Coaching Training" in order to offer Vancouver Friends for Life members one on one peer support with their wellness journeys.
Member of the Community Based Research team involved with the COPD Awareness and the HIV/AIDS needs assessments studies.
I started dropdeadhappy.com as an outlet to provide health, fitness and coaching support to those in financial and/or physical need and promote a dropdeadhappy attitude in the pursuit of individual goals and life. Coaching home based entrepreneurs grew from "On Our Way" clients venturing out on their own and taking full control of their lives.
Today, I feel lucky to work with a diverse client base, each offering a unique way to experience life and business, allowing me a deeper and broader base of wisdom to play with & share.
